The interest in pre-wedding shoots, also known as engagement shoots, has been growing over the years and today most wedding photographers will offer them, either as stand-alone items or as part of their wedding photography packages. Surrey wedding photographer Richard explains the many benefits of having one.
A valuable bit of ‘You’ time
A pre-wed shoot can be a lovely, relaxed and enjoyable event with your marriage partner-to-be. Not only do you have some allotted time out, just to be together, which is not always possible in today’s busy lifestyle, but also with the guidance of an experienced wedding photographer, it is a time that you can devote 100% of your attention to each other for a bit of romance and fun without any interruption.
Getting over the nerves of being photographed
A major benefit of a pre-wed shoot is that it gets a nervous bride or groom used to having their picture taken. You’ll often find that couples usually only have a few snaps of themselves, often from events or weddings or more than not, just selfies from their mobile phones.
More often than not you will hear a Bride say, I don’t like having my picture taken, I don’t know where to look or I don’t like being the centre of attention. If this is the case then a pre-wed shoot is a must.
Now walking together with a wedding photographer pointing a couple of large lenses at you can be a daunting prospect for anyone. But it’s amazing how quickly with the guidance of an experienced photographer, all the nervousness and worry disappears shortly into the shoot.
Getting to know yourself and your partner
Some couples may not be that used to being intimate in a public space, walking together holding hands, hugging each other, looking into each other’s eyes and enjoying a kiss. Usually, within about twenty minutes the couple looks and feels more relaxed and the shots flow naturally. Strangely as it may sound, the couple will have learnt something new about themselves and their partner.
Romantic and memorable shoot location
Your photographer will help you choose a special location along with setting a time of the year that gives you the best experience. Autumn in Surrey, England is now a very popular time as the weather is fine up to October when the leaves on the trees start turning colour, giving you a wonderful romantic backdrop of copper reds, vibrant rose and golden yellows. Another great time is spring when the bright yellow daffodils are out in March followed by the deep violet blues of bluebells in April. With plenty of parks, commons, National Trust properties and beautiful wedding venues on offer, you are spoilt for choice for a session that will provide you with plenty of beautiful, romantic pictures that you will treasure forever.
Great practice for the BIG Day
At the end of the session, the couple got to know their wedding photographer and maybe themselves too a bit more. In turn, the photographer has learnt a lot about this couple so that when it comes to the big day itself, everything is more relaxed, easy and enjoyable guaranteeing a better experience all around.
