Technology and medicine naturally go hand-in-hand, with key developments affecting both patient and practitioner. The good news is that most modern inventions make it easier and more convenient to get in optimal shape.

Here are 4 technological innovations in medicine.

Personalized Treatment Plans

Gone are the days when patients were given by-the-book medicinal solutions. Today’s trend is all about individualized diagnoses and treatments.

With the introduction of Watson and big data, doctors can collaborate and come up with a personalized treatment. This reduces the chances of mistreatment, re-admission and costs.

In line with this, more and more people are getting to know the benefits of taking medicine and supplements from a compounding pharmacy. Each capsule is tailored for your ailment or where you’re particularly lacking.

Smart Wearables

Smart wearables have been here quite a while but every innovative feature makes it even more useful for the health-conscious.

The best examples are smart watches that are equipped with sensors for reading pulse, heart rate, blood oxygen and ECG. Others are more fitness-oriented and give you data such as calories burned, steps taken and if you’ve been sitting down for too long.

Telemedicine

Devices such as computers, tablets and smartphones make visiting the doctor a less time-consuming experience, thanks to teleconferencing and mobile consultation.

In the same vein, doctors can now view EHR, or electronic health records that are stored in an app or the cloud. They can read, interpret or share with the patient and other people and get a timely response.

Robotic Surgery

Machines and AI have advanced to such a degree that they can perform precise surgeries.

Surgeons can now have more control and reduce scarring and risks of infection. The patient benefits from this in that they need less time to recover and can bounce back to a normal life at a sooner time.
